Mix and Match – Cabin & Little Hideaway
Client Brief
This London family with 4 children had several different sets of requirements: play and magical hideaway for the younger children and a "bolt hole" and private space for the older ones. The parents were particularly keen to encourage the children away from the TV and out into their own special spaces in the garden.
The Design & Build
This 2 part project needed to sit carefully down at the bottom of this London garden and blend subtly into its backdrop. Both structures were designed with the same consideration to style, safety and quality, with a Little Hideaway™ playhouse (see special section within the Gallery for more details) at one end, and a rope walkway connecting this to the more "grown-up" hideaway cabin space at the other. The Little Hideaway stands about 1.5m above the ground, with balcony and hideaway house and a gently curving roof line. The main hideaway cabin has a balcony area for sitting out under the extended roof and a fully lined and insulated interior, with additional bespoke shutters. The project took just over three weeks to complete.
