Action and Imagination

Client Brief
With three very active young boys, our client was particularly keen to have plenty of activity and movement built into their tree house project. They also wanted to make sure that the boys continued to use the structure as they all grow up.

The Design & Build
With a perfect site set slightly away from the main house and the rest of the garden, the collection of tall conifer trees offered plenty of scope for both a tree house hideaway and activity features. The design includes a rustic hideaway house with additional "hobbit" door entry as well as the "sensible" door; rope walkway to a second platform with climbing ropenet and tyre swing; a "wibbly" ladder (single pole with asymmetrical cross bars) as a more challenging way up to the tree house; trapdoor and rope ladder within the hideaway; tarzan knotted ropes hanging between two trees and a long zipwire down to the other end of the woodland.

The build took just under 3 weeks to complete.

Cost
Guildeline: £22,000

Testimonials
"The zip wire is amazing. You just can’t stop yourself laughing every time you go down it..." William, 11

"I love sleeping out in the house with my friends. It is so cosy and warm. Our friends never want to go home!" Oliver, 9

"The trap door is really cool and the hobbit’s door is just my size..." Alex, 7

"I can heartily recommend the entire Squirrel design team. The whole ‘customer experience’ was first class from start to finish. David and Sarah were extremely helpful in working with us to decide what we wanted and how it could fit into our trees/budget and the guys who did the work were very polite, great with the kids, worked to the highest standard and always cleaned up after themselves! We are very happy with the quality and finish of the house and all additions and look forward to many years of trouble free playing’ We have no doubt the tree house will last longer than the UK banking system!"
