Client Brief
When you have 4 children, there are always going to be different requirements to end up with a project to please each of them. This family had a range of ages and a son with mild learning difficulties, so we have to be especially attentive to getting the design right. The client also wished to link the new tree house and adventure scheme up to the existing wooden play equipment. The brief specified that the new scheme needed to have a real feel of being the children’s own secret place to play.
The Design & Build
Behind the existing play equipment is a large wooded area – a natural spot for a secret treehouse and play scheme. We tucked a compact Hideaway House in between a couple of trees, linked this to another tree on one side with a rope & chain walkway, and in the other direction - back towards the play equipment – joined it to the whole scheme with a rope line & hanging ropes, chain V bridge and extra platform. The children would be able to go from one end to the other with hardly a foot touching the ground. To add excitement into the whole thing, a long zipwire rushes from the platform at the end of the walkway off into the woods. Apparently even the parents are enjoying this one. We made sure that there was access suitable for all children - whilst still retaining a sense of challenge.
