Client Brief
This family in the Midlands was looking for a full scale project that would stand out in their beautiful garden as well as offer their young children a magical space to play and clamber around: they needed the whole scheme to cater for different ages and last through childhood and beyond, to teenage life.

The Design & Build
With several large trees to consider, we based the main treehouse around one of these, with a unique “half face” shape to make sure that the maximum light could reach into the house. The client specifically wanted a design “with a difference”, with some quirky details, hence the different shaped windows placed around the walls for example. Internally, the house has a raised mezzanine level, accessed by a ladder, and from under which hangs a rope ladder that continues on down through a trap door and on to the ground. This trap door will be bolted up until their youngest child is ready to tackle the challenge!

Two separate walkways carry you between the various platforms, and various activity features offer the more boisterous a chance to clamber and climb.

This project was built in approximately 4 weeks (and it snowed a lot!)
