Client Brief
This family in Wiltshire wanted a natural looking tree house with climbing & play features that their 5 year old boy could enjoy investigating on his own, & with all of his friends. With a magical setting, this was always going to be the perfect location: the site is approached through an arch in a dark yew hedge, and reveals itself to you as you wander through the trees.
The Design & BuildWe had various groups of smaller trees that we had to design around, and so decided to use a combination of support knee braces and natural Sweet Chestnut legs. The tree house element has a sweeping roof that extends out beyond the front of the house, and a charming curve to its shape. We added a V shaped rope walkway leading to another lookout platform, off which come both a slide and a climbing rope net. The project took 2 weeks to build.
